April Photo Project: Lunch

This month's photo theme was lunch, and I loved seeing your tasty submissions. I snapped a pic of my tea and avocado toast, which has become a staple, now that I work from home. I usually eat at my desk, so food that only requires one free hand is key. Here's what you shared:

Lesley shared this refreshing-looking cucumber and tomato salad.

Hollie took a photo of her sweet potato nachos, which I'm eager to recreate.

And Allison snapped a pic of a hummus plate she shared with a friend.

If you want to share one of your lunch photos, just leave a link below! As always, thanks for sharing your photos!

Bottled Blooms

These porcelain vases inspired by vintage milk bottles are so darling. They're from the shop Urban Cartel and come in the loveliest muted shades, perfect for housing spring flowers.

Weekend in Photos

We had another Texas traveling weekend. We headed east to see our friend's band play a fundraising show, which was awesome, spent a night in Houston and then headed to Huntsville State Park for a camping trip. Now, I'm not much of a camper, which everyone who knows me is well aware of, but since Jonah loves it, and I've somehow managed to avoid it in our nearly seven years of marriage, it seemed like a camping trip was long overdue. Everyone but me was a total camping pro (just look at that homemade camp kitchen), so that made things way easier for me. We ate delicious campfire-cooked food, enjoyed the scenery and there weren't even that many bugs. There might be hope for me yet.

Finding Favorites

We've been visiting coffee shops in Austin in the afternoons trying to find places that feel comfortable and charming and serve up deliciousness. This week, we discovered Once Over Coffee Bar, and it fit the bill. There's a whole outdoor deck surrounded by trees, and I'm wishing I had another one of those frozen chai lattes right about now. It's been added to my mental list of favorites.

Lego My Table

This is just too fun. A woman in Paris took apart an Ikea table and put around 5,000 assembled Legos between the base and glass. It's such a statement piece, worthy of all kids at heart.

Sign of the Times

Jonah and I have been taking iPhone photos of signs almost every time we're out in Austin. No surprise that they're all food-related, but I like how they also capture the beautiful weather we've been having. Clearly, Austin has been treating us (and our stomachs) well.

Totes Adorbs

It's tough for me to resist a cute tote bag. This bunch from Milkhaus Design are just my style and look like the perfect size for carrying around laptops and baguettes, two things I like to have close-by.

Weekend in Photos

I had to work this weekend, which wasn't the way I wanted to spend Easter, but I took plenty of breaks for tea and handfuls of malted milk chocolate eggs. Jonah and I made a point to cram in lots of fun during the evenings with a walk by Town Lake, a tasty dinner at Uchi and some frozen custard. Hope you had a lovely Easter weekend!

Thoughts of the Week

How to pack an Easter picnic.

These tips actually got me excited about cleaning.

Bring on peach season.

I've got my eye on this feather necklace.

Time to start planning some Texas adventures.

Holy goodness, could someone bring these over on Saturday morning?

And please send your tasty lunch photos my way!

Hope you have a lovely, springy Easter weekend with plenty of deviled eggs and chocolate bunnies!

Temporary Tattoo Easter Eggs

I used a little Texas inspiration for this year's Easter eggs. This has to be the easiest way to decorate eggs ever. I downloaded some western-inspired clip art from Etsy, printed the designs on temporary tattoo paper and applied one to each egg. I like the impact of the tattoos on un-dyed white eggs, but brown or dyed eggs would work too. You could also just buy temporary tattoos or even design your own. Anyway you go about it, you'll end up with some impressive Easter eggs.

Also, last year's subway Easter eggs.

Floral Frocks

'Tis the season for floral dresses and Anthropologie is overwhelming me with all their gorgeous prints of colorful blooms. How's a girl to choose?

Weekend in Photos

It was a small town Texas weekend for us. We met up with some friends in Lockhart for barbecue-eating at Black's, the oldest bbq restaurant in Texas, and then headed to Gruene to hear some live music and lounge around by the Guadalupe River. This Texas living is still so novel to me, and I'm loving every minute of it.

Pink Drink

Can you believe that color? The Maine Root soda company has a special edition Texas flavor called Pink Drink. It's made with prickly pear cactus juice, which gives it that outrageous hue, and it's sweetened with agave. I've had it a couple times already alongside pork buns and tacos, and I keep going back for more.

Pretend Party: Easter Lunch

After singing some of my favorite classic hymns at church ("He liiiives within my heart!"), there's nothing I like more than gathering around the table for a spring-inspired lunch, involving lots of items of the egg-variety and a few sweets. Here's some Easter inspiration for your table if you're on the hunt.

[found here: dried flowers; elderflower cordial; beet-pickled deviled eggs; placemats; Easter bread; lamb chops; pasta and peas; animal plates; lemon cake; tray; chocolate mushrooms]

Bike Likes

Anthropologie is really nailing it in the cute bicycle department. Of course, I'm more interested in the baskets and bells than the actual bike that goes with them.
