Cherries and Berries
Yesterday, the husband and I stocked up on cherries and berries at the farmers' market. Perhaps we went a bit overboard, but I love having a fridge full of fruit. Maybe I'll make this or this, or if I'm feeling really ambitious, this.
What are you up to this weekend? I'll be entertaining my lovely Texan friend Nora who's here for a visit. I think everyone needs a friend from Texas.

Bed Head
I have a problem. Despite the fact that I have a perfectly lovely comforter and quilt, I'm always looking for new bedding. It's my ongoing search to achieve the world's most inviting bed. I'm like the Indiana Jones of home furnishings.
This duvet from DwellStudio might be a contender. Couldn't you just curl up in those stripes all day?

Have you seen this YouTube video yet? It's pretty incredible and the song is stuck in my head.

Midwest Fest
I'm back from my visit to Minnesota, which consisted of farm animals, hot, sunny days, frosty drinks, laughter, some friendly competition and one pretty sweet mini golf course/sculpture garden.
And, here's last week's giveaway winner.

Old Friends, New Places
I'm in Minneapolis for a three-day weekend/impromptu visit with friends. A little last minute trip seems like one of those things you should do in the summertime. We're off to ride bikes and play miniature golf.
Be sure to enter this week's giveaway if you haven't yet. See you next week!

Keep Truckin: Marination Mobile
Can I just say how much I love food trucks? This one in particular called Marination Mobile is my current food obsession. They roll around Seattle serving up a blend of Korean and Hawaiian cuisine, which includes kimchi fried rice, miso ginger chicken tacos, shredded kalua pork and delicious Spam sliders. Yes, I said delicious and Spam in the same sentence. Believe it.
These photos were taken when my parents were here. Please note what a fine hand model my dad is.

Weekend in Photos
A brand new farmers' market 300 feet from my apartment makes me very happy. So does housemade cherry-orange soda, a chickpea fritter sandwich and long overdue sunshine. Let's hear a woo-hoo for summer!
You know what else makes me happy? A giveaway winner.

National Digest
Last week, I told you about state finds I'd come across recently. This week, I found something that does the whole country proud. This tote bag by Melangerie Inc. associates all 50 states with a food they're famous for. It's adorable and some would even argue educational. For instance, now I know what kuchen looks like and that I could probably eat a whole lot of it in South Dakota.
Have a great weekend and be sure to enter this week's giveaway!

Summer Sweets
I finally jumped on the popsicle bandwagon and bought the molds that I saw here and here. They make me very happy, as do the popsicles they contain. For my first attempt, I went with a strawberry peach flavor since both were readily available in my kitchen. Perfectly sweet, cold and smile-inducing, all the things you want on a hot summer day.
*For you aspiring popsicle-makers, you can find the molds on Amazon. I had to run them under warm water to slip the popsicles out, but otherwise, they're pretty great.
Frozen Strawberry-Peach Pops
Recipe courtesy of Country Living
1/2 cup sugar
6 ounces strawberries, hulled
6 ounces peaches, peeled and pitted
1 tablespoon lemon juice
Bring 1/2 cup of water and the sugar to a boil and let cool. Puree the strawberries, peaches, cooled syrup, lemon juice, and 1/2 cup water in a food processor. Fill five 4-ounce paper cups or popsicle molds with the strawberry-peach mixture. For paper cups, place on a tray, cover securely with plastic wrap, and pierce a popsicle stick through the plastic into each cup. For popsicle molds, follow manufacturer's instructions. Freeze until solid.
