It rained all day yesterday and it's supposed to rain all day today. I wish I could stay home and spend the day on the couch bundled up in a quilt. Specifically, one of these. The pattern is called cathedral window. It seems insanely complicated to make, but oh so lovely to look at.

That is so, so beautiful! I would love to learn to quilt. It seems so challenging and intricate! but with such beautiful (and warm) results!
ReplyDeleteMy Grandmother used to quilt. I don't think she ever made one in that beautiful Cathedral pattern though. But you're right, there's nothing better than wrapping up under a homemade quilt on chilly Fall days!
ReplyDeleteprettiest quilt i ever did see.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I've had a thing for quilts lately too!
ReplyDeleteLove quilts, they just make me want to curl up in bed by a fireplace!

It really does look insanely difficult to make, but it's absolutely gorgeous. That's one of those things you'd treasure and pass down in your family. (And isn't crazy how cool it's been the past two days?)
ReplyDeleteawhhh what a gorgeous quilt! i'm still stuck on rectangle/square quilts.. this is amazing :) thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI remember the first thing I did when I got to college and was no longer living under my parents' roof - went straight to a bedding store and bought a quilt. I knew I would miss home, and somehow, sleeping under a quilt (albeit a store bought one) would make the homesickness go away.
ReplyDeleteThanks for reminding me of that wonderful memory. Cheers!
I LOVE colorful quilts, too. I've been hunting for one of those grandma-inspired crochet blankets with all of the little different colored squares for ages, and still no cigar. Just another reason for me to thrift every chance I get! :)
ReplyDeletethose quilts are incredible! i wish i was talented enough to make something like that.
ReplyDeleteLove.
ReplyDeleteThis is lovely! My first quilt was a Cathedral Window. I had no idea how difficult it was until I made my second quilt (double pinwheel) which was so much easier!
ReplyDeleteIt took me two years to make one in my spare time. I hangs on a wall. I would NEVER use it, butI love it.
ReplyDeleteI just finished making a King sized Cathedral Quilt. I must be insane because I never found it to be difficult at all. I completed the quilt in 6 months time. Each one of my "windows" is hand stitched. Some of my windows duplicate up to 3 times due to lack of fabric scraps. Not a quilt for a beginner quilter who is just getting their fabric supply built up.
ReplyDeleteMakes a beautiful heirloom quilt.
