Hanging Out

We're still searching for a home in Savannah, but I'm already thinking about lounging in one of these hammocks with a tall glass of lemonade. Hopefully, we'll find a place for it soon.

Pull Up a Chair

I tend to be drawn to color in almost all cases, but when it comes to dining chairs, I'm not so sure. I love each of these shades, but I wonder if colorful chairs in bulk are too much of a statement. What do you think? Is it better to go with neutrals in the dining room?

Fair Feather

I love the detail in these large prints of feathers. It's just the sort of simple image that would make a big impact in a living or dining room.

Time and Lace

I've been spying all sorts of lace-inspired items lately, which bring a little modernity to the old-fashioned material. If I were in advertising, I'd come up with something like, "Lace: it's not just for your underwear drawer."

Portable Potables

A bar cart is one of those pieces of furniture I aspire to own, but I have yet to take the leap. I love the idea of using one to display my prettiest bottles and barware, and with so many stylish options available right now, it could be hard to resist much longer.

Color Collection

I've realized I have a problem. If something is small, ceramic and colorful, I want it. These striped vases are no exception.

Verbal Courage

Some form of being healthier and happier always seems to be my New Year's resolution. I'm thinking one of these prints from The Motivated Type would serve as a good reminder for the rest of the year.

Color Palate

These paint chip table linens are just the sort of quirky home decor that I like. Designed by Avril Loreti in Toronto, they're cute, clever and just the right amount of kitschy.

Cream and Sugar, Please

If I were going to have a collection of a particular kitchen item, it would most definitely be cream and sugar sets. I can always seem to find new creamers and sugar bowls that I love, and these delicate designs from RossLab are no exception.

Nursery Art

We don't currently have a nursery -- just a guest bedroom that gets colder than all the other rooms (oh, apartment life) -- but that hasn't stopped me from planning and picking out art for baby boy and the space he'll occupy one day. I love the pops of color in these prints. It seems fitting for such a happy place.

Coffee Time

This concept for a coffee-making alarm clock reminds me of The Office episode where Michael burns his foot on his George Foreman grill because he likes waking up to the smell of bacon in bed. I think it's safe to say this prototype is a little more thought-out. Called the Barisieur, it was created by industrial designer Joshua Renouf and uses induction to heat the water and has a drawer for coffee grounds and sugar and a vial for milk. Now if only it were sold at Target.

Baby Blankets

There are a whole lot more practical infant items I need, but I keep eyeing baby blankets with their sweet patterns and bright colors. Add that to the quilts made by his nana and great grandma and baby Broulette will be bundled up for life.

Dish It Out

I'm a fan of these screen printed flour sack towels from Nourishing Notes. Nothing like a little friendly advice while you're drying the dishes.

Pillow Picks

We got rid of a lot of furniture when we moved, and now we're waiting to see if a house works out before investing in some key pieces. In the meantime, I'm curbing my need to nest with things like new sheets, towels and in the more fun department, throw pillows. CB2 has been my latest go-to for bringing a little summer brightness inside.

Where Flowers Bloom

I've got blooms on the brain this week, so when I came across this state flower map of the U.S., I was immediately taken. I received a thorough education on Georgia state history in elementary school, so I know we rep the Cherokee rose, and I've quickly learned that here in Texas, they're all about bluebonnets. But maybe it's time to educate myself on the rest of the country. The print, created by Thimblepress, also includes this lovely quote from Lady Bird Johnson: "Where flowers bloom, so does hope." I like that idea.
