On Wednesday afternoon, I headed up to Central Park to see the Macy's parade balloons getting inflated. I've never been motivated enough to brave the crowds on Thanksgiving Day, but this was a fun, if not strange, way to see some of the action. I can't get that face-planted Pillsbury Doughboy out of my head.
Thursday was happily spent in the kitchen. The fruits of my labor included a roasted 12-pound turkey, my favorite tacky but tasty
Thanksgiving side, enough other sides to crowd a plate, and a new
delicious pumpkin pie
recipe courtesy of City Bakery. What were the highlights of your holiday?
Sounds wonderful and the food looks so good:)
ReplyDeleteIm loving this Holiday weekend...Weare just relaxing and being lazy :)

That sweet potato souffle looks dangerously good! And I have yet to go see the parade in person, but I've heard going to see the balloons be inflated is such a fun experience. Maybe next year!
ReplyDeletefun!! i don't think i could do the parade either... ny is crowded enough on a normal weekday; ) happy thanksgiving
ReplyDeleteI never saw the balloons get blown up but I did try to attend the parade one year and it was a disaster, just way too many people. Its much nicer to watch it on tv
ReplyDeleteThe Macy's parade was something that always fascinated me when I was young. I don't think I've ever seen a parade of such magnitude anywhere else. It's cool that you got to see the balloons being blown up! (And glad your laptop is all fixed up! Happy Thanksgiving)
ReplyDeleteA New York Thanksgiving... there is simply nothing like it! We enjoyed celebrating a Saints victory and our first holiday in our new home.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fabulous Thanksgiving!!!!
ReplyDeleteMmmmm yummy! Glad you made it out to the parade, and the food looks so yummy:-)
ReplyDeleteI think seeing the balloons inflate would be much better than waiting in the cold for a super long parade.
ReplyDeleteOooo Happy belated Thanksgiving!! =) That's so cool that you went to the parade!!! =) I live about 30 minutes outside of Manhatten yet I've never been to the parade. Maybe next year!! =)
