D is for Dog

This canine alphabet poster would make a fun addition to a gallery wall or be a great gift for a dog show enthusiast like myself. I'm happy to see my favorite Old English Sheepdog represented, and I'm always impressed when those tricky Q, X and Z categories can be filled.

Pet Possessions

It's funny to me how quickly we became "dog people." Zuzu's toys get scattered all over the place so the least they can do is be cute. Harry Barker is a Charleston-based brand that sells eco-friendly and stylish pet products -- I think it's safe to say that Zuzu is a fan. It's nice that all this dog gear can be as chic as it is slobbery.

June Photo Project: Animals

This month, I asked for your animal photos and we've got some serious dog lovers out there! To be honest, when I chose the theme I knew my parents would be delivering our new Old English Sheepdog puppy this week. So I'm pleased to introduce you to our girl Zuzu! Weekend in Photos

The days are feeling longer and more full like they do in the summertime, if only it would warm up just a tad. We had hot dogs at Bark in Brooklyn, a tasty brunch, multiple coffee outings and spent about a half hour watching these geese stand guard over their adorable little goslings at the park in our neighborhood. How was your weekend?

Puppy Love

I got in some quality puppy time with my parents' new dog over Christmas, and now I'm desperate for one of my own. Although, thoughts of fluffy, furry cuddles are waging war with the reality of housebreaking in a 26th floor apartment. At least for now, I can see sweet Tupelo every so often. Have a great weekend! May you be as happy as a dog on the beach.

Season of the Fox

I've always had a soft spot for foxes. I think it goes back to one of my first childhood crushes: Robin Hood, you know the fox from the animated Disney version. I just thought he was the dreamiest. Be sure to let me know if that is 100 percent creepy, and I'll never share that information ever again. Anyhoos, I'm seeing foxes on everything lately, and I think they're a fun touch of fall to incorporate into your wardrobe.

Animal Collective

I ended up with a lot of animal pictures from our time in Europe. Here are some of my favorites. Wild horses in southern England, silly dogs in Paris, cows that gave me the stink eye and sheep, so many sheep. I kept thinking about how smart the dogs were because they know more words in French than me. Happy Friday! Hope you have a beautiful fall weekend in store!

Something Fishy

I've never had much luck keeping goldfish alive, but these fishbowl designs make me want to give it another go. Maybe a cool container will inspire them to live long and full lives.

Weekend in Photos: Harvest Fest

Sometimes New Yorkers just need to go somewhere with grass and trees. That's what happened this weekend. Jonah and I and our pals headed north of the city for Harvest Fest at the Stone Barns Center. We indulged in roast pork sandwiches, beer, and sweets and spent the day wandering around the grounds, which are filled with greenhouses, beautiful old buildings, gardens and farm animals. The piglets were my favorite. If I had been carrying a bigger bag, I would have snatched one up and brought it home with me. And yes, I realize the irony of saying that after mentioning a delicious pork sandwich.

Awesome People with Dogs

I was spending too much time on Awesome People Hanging Out Together the other day (which is fantastic if you've never checked it out), and I thought to myself someone should create a site about awesome people hanging out with their awesome dogs. Sure enough, someone went and did it already, and it's as awesome as I suspected it would be.

Side note: My family has always owned Old English Sheepdogs, so any time I see a picture of Paul McCartney with one, my heart turns to mush. Did you know The Beatles' song "Martha My Dear" was inspired by Paul's dog?
