Like Mother, Like Daughter
I love this sweet Mother's Day card from Rifle Paper Co. It reminds me of how I always watched my mom get ready in her makeup mirror -- the white plastic kind with different light settings like "office" and "evening." Naturally, when I went away to college, I had to get my own own makeup mirror. It was the most normal thing in the world to me, but it was like no one else had ever seen one. My roommates and friends assumed it was some sort of scanner or fax machine. So thanks Momma for teaching me about looking my best in "home" lighting and 5x magnification mirrors.

Walking Coaster
From far away, it looks like a roller coaster, especially when it's all lit up at night. But it's actually a walkway with very steep stairs for visitors to take in the surrounding landscape. The coaster-style sculpture, called "Tiger & Turtle - Magic Mountain," is in Duisburg, Germany. It was built on top of mining waste using zinc, steel and tin. And in case you were wondering, you can't climb the loop, it's just for show. I thought about that really hard for a while.

Watercolored
I love the watercolor look on clothes, but it's just as charming on home accessories. I found pillows, glassware, pots and coasters with those gentle strokes of muted color. It seems like a good way to incorporate summer in your home.

Weekend in Photos
We had Mexican food two nights in a row this weekend. That's what I call living it up. I made my family's version of Derby pie on Saturday because I'll take any excuse to make a pie. We saw The Avengers with friends, and then had a deep conversation about what super power we wish we had over margaritas. I went with flying. Speaking of things that are super, did you see the moon this weekend? Amazing.

Mother's Day Music
Mother's Day is in just over a week, and I think this little hand crank music box from Kikkerland Design would make for a sweet gift. I suppose it should be called a music box without the box. I bought myself one a few weeks ago. It's a sweet little token to crank up every so often. There are lots of song options, so you can choose one that's special to your mom. I like the idea of taking it out of it's packaging, so she won't know what the song is until she turns the handle. And then she'll burst into tears moved by the thoughtfulness and creativity of her perfect child. Don't hold me to that last part.
