Sunday marked five years since I started blogging. It amazes me how much time has passed and how much I've loved spending that time in this little space. As a thank you to you readers, commenters, visitors and friends who make it all worthwhile, I'm giving away some of my favorite southern-flavored cookbooks, copies of which reside on my very own bookshelf, and you have three chances to win!
The grand prize winner will receive: The Lee Bros.' Simple Fresh Southern, Porch Parties: Cocktail Recipes and Easy Ideas for Outdoor Entertaining and The Back in the Day Bakery Cookbook. The second place winner will receive two of the cookbooks, and the third place winner gets one of the cookbooks. All winners will be chosen at random. To enter, just leave a comment below before midnight on Monday, January 21, telling me your favorite southern dish, dessert or drink. Good luck and thanks for following The SoHo!
First of all Happy Birthday to your blog. My favourite Southern dish is Gumbo and for Dessert are beignets, we first ate these in Savannah! They are just delicious. Have a good day. Pamela

Oh, there are so many favorites I don't know if I could choose just one. Having lived up north for most of my adult life & having recently relocated back down south to Charleston, I have been reacquainted with all my childhood favorites. One happy reconnection has been Coconut Cake which would make a great way to celebrate your blog birthday. Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteHappy Blog Birthday!!! My favorite southern dish is gumbo...I'm up in New York and have never had southern gumbo, but it's on my to do list! If northern gumbo is good, southern gumbo has to be phenomenal!

Happy Blogday! My fave has to be buttermilk biscuits. First - they lend themselves to any meal, sweet or savory. Equally delicious with blackberry jam as with bacon (or both at the same time!).
ReplyDeleteThe part I like most is the satisfaction of making them from scratch and watching them rise, then eating them warm out of the oven. It's a ritual born of the South.
Congrats to you! My favorite Southern dish is a fresh coconut cream cake that my Grandma from Tennessee use to make. She would make one layer pink, and the other layer white, with 7-minute frosting, and topped with fresh coconut.
ReplyDeleteHappy Blog Birthday!! My favorite dessert is Texas Sheet Cake (chocolate and pecans, yum!!) and I just love southern barbeque (ribs, brisket, etc), plus sweet tea is the best.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Wow, I love reading all the favorite foods, there are too many to choose. I better go with the caramel cake, because it has graced our Christmas table most of the years of your life.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of the porch parties.
