I've been working on bettering the collection of knick-knacks on display in my apartment. Out with the IKEA, in with the unique and vintage finds. I wanted a little white winter fox figurine (don't ask me why, I just have this thing for foxes), but I couldn't find one. So after ordering this little guy on Etsy, I just gave him a coat of white spray paint and voilĂ . He was pretty cute before, but I love the clean, simple look now.
Love it! I'm also trying to de-IKEA-fy my home... At some point you just want those personal touches, right?
ReplyDeleteOh, he's so adorable! My roommate loves foxes, we have quite a few around the apartment. And I love unique vintage finds, they make houses so much more personalized.
ReplyDeleteAgreed! I like it much better white.

ReplyDeleteYou clever fox! He looks fabulous!
ReplyDeleteThat is one cute fox! Love the coat of white paint. It's fun to have some knicks knacks kicking around.
ReplyDeleteI love his jaunty little head tilt.
ReplyDeleteI just did the same thing with a horse.

Wow, Natalie- this is so clever! I need to start thinking more like that! Question, since I live in NYC too, where do you spray paint? Is it doable in your home?
ReplyDeleteHe does look quite artistic with the fresh coat of white paint.
ReplyDeleteNicely done! I'm done with Ikea as well, and now that we're in a house we're collecting a lot of cool things but nothing that doesn't have a good purpose. I like your fox, a lot. Do they have badgers like that? I'd be pretty into that.
ReplyDeleteHa, great question, Channeling Contessa! I went out on our building's roof with spray paint and a cardboard box. That's probably not allowed, but in New York, you gotta do, what you gotta do.
ReplyDeletethat's such a good idea! I think that I get so fixated about finding the perfect thing that sometimes I forget that I can buy something similar and then fix it up myself.
ReplyDeleteI agree. I love unique vintage pieces.
ReplyDeleteYou read my mind. I have been meaning to do the same thing (doesn't have to be a fox, but he sure is cute). I think I want to paint my as-yet-to-be-determined friend gold, though.
ReplyDeleteYou've inspired me!
Love! I've been wanting to do something like this too, thanks for posting.
ReplyDeleteWhat kind of white spray paint did you use? Flat/matte or shiny?
I was also thinking a gold metallic too for some *bling* :)
