Lately

Harrison turned 1 month old yesterday. I really love spending my days with this sweet boy. I'm just head over heels for him. And even though I feel like an outing to Target is a crowning achievement, I'm gradually beginning to find my footing in motherhood. I took this photo of Jonah and Harrison a couple weeks ago. Harrison looks so tiny, I can't even take it. This is basically what our life looks like lately, catching up on sleep whenever possible and snuggling with baby boy. Thanks for bearing with me and the intermittent blogging. I hope to have a semblance of a schedule in the very near future, and I'm excited for some holiday posts, gift guides, Christmas sweets, all my favorite stuff.

This weekend, we're packing up the car and driving to Savannah to spend Thanksgiving week with my family. I'm pretty sure we're crazy to drive 17 hours with an infant and a dog, but I'll let you know just how crazy once we get there. Anyway, I'm really excited about introducing Harrison to his great-grandmothers ... and also for sweet potato casserole.

Meet Harrison James!

Pardon the blog silence. Harrison James Broulette arrived on Monday, October 20, at 11:18 am, and I've been in a blissful, exciting, sleepy whirlwind ever since. Everything went smoothly with the birth, my parents provided a ton of support, and Jonah and I are just obsessed with our little miracle. Thanks for all the well wishes on instagram. If you want to be bombarded with more baby pictures, feel free to follow me at natalieaerin.

Weekend in Photos

We enjoyed a nice long Fourth of July weekend with Jonah's parents who came from Seattle for their first visit to Austin. With back-to-back parent visits, we've been busy eating good food, being spoiled and entertaining puppy, which sometimes proves to be a job for four adults. We watched fireworks in the distance from the roof, ate loads of ice cream, did some shopping for baby boy and gave the Broulettes a taste of Texas.

Weekend in Photos

My parents left yesterday and as usual, we had a great time. This trip was hectic with unpacking, settling in to our new apartment, and a puppy to entertain, but my parents are total troopers. We did manage to squeeze in some good food like barbecue, tacos and a fantastic meal at Uchiko. I did my best to show them what Austin's all about, and they got a close-up look at my growing belly.

Motherhood

I just wanted to say thank you for all the sweet comments this week about our upcoming addition. It was nice to finally share the news and the outpouring of kindness made me even more excited about becoming someone's mama. I hope you get to spend this weekend celebrating the women you love. Happy Mother's Day!

Birthdays and Boxes

My mom's birthday is today! Jonah and I spent yesterday packing up all the art she's painted for us, which was a perfect reminder of the loveliness she brings into our lives. Happy Birthday, Momma!

Year in Photos

It's a little late, but I thought a recap of 2013 was in order. I made homemade marshmallows, subway-inspired Easter eggs (my most viewed blog post ever) and desserts galore. Jonah and I celebrated six years of marriage, and I turned 30. We took our usual trips to Savannah and Seattle as well as a trip Denver, one to Portland and two to Austin. There were some fun date nights. We had my favorite meal all year at Blue Hill at Stone Barns. I continued shaking up frocktails and even teamed up with Ruche for a few.

There weren't any major life events (unless you count meeting Martha Stewart), but it sure feels like we're on the cusp of some. Mostly, it was a year spent enjoying family, friends, life's little joys and you lovely people. I can't thank you enough for spending your time here. I so appreciate it and count myself lucky to have such wonderful readers and internet friends. I'm excited to see what 2014 has in store for all of us.

Weekend in Photos

It was the happiest of weekends. We hung out with some of Jonah's old college roommates on Friday night, and I laughed until my sides hurt. On Saturday, we got dressed in our best bohemian formal for a beautiful wedding in Brooklyn. Then on Sunday, I watched the New York City Marathon pass through our neighborhood. It just amazes me to see all those people pushing their bodies to the limit, while complete strangers cheer them on. It's one of those days when New York City is at its best.
