Weekend in Photos

It was a happy, quiet sort of weekend. I went to a lovely party on Saturday morning hosted by Rebecca and Michelle at a beautiful studio filled with yummy treats and talented lady bloggers. My favorite goodie bag item was a letterpress card of the NYC boroughs by Walker Standstill. Now to find a frame for it. Other than that, there was a lot of couch time, we watched this moving documentary, and I made some savory summer goodness that I'm excited to share later this week! How'd you spend the weekend?

  2. Sometimes hanging out on the couch are the best types of weekend activities. We had some friends in town---so we are really well, thrifted, and hung out at the beach---no complaints here. Can't wait to see what you whipped up. Happy Monday.

  4. LOVE that movie. Paul shows it to his freshman english students every year and they all cry. The world is so broken, but I think there's a lot of hope in this film. I seriously recommend everyone team up with Catholic Charities at some point- there are so many families who aren't ready to navigate through the red tape and legal forms of America, but they still lose their Catholic Charities partner after only a short period of time and are expected to assimilate on their own. We made such great friends with our refugee family.

  11. I just saw this post and wanted to answer the comment about why Manhattan is upside down (I design the Borough cards). Our cards depict beloved places, drawn from maps, in the language of 18th century silhouette portraiture. Giving a location a persona, the cards allow us to express our love of a place as if it was an old family relative. The maps are rotated to show what we think is the most ideal portrait for the place. Thank you Natalie for sharing our card on your blog.

    Warmly, Lauren Schlesinger
