Since I'm doing my own hair for my friend's wedding on Saturday, I've been practicing this bun all week. I'm usually helpless when it comes to anything beyond the realm of ponytail, but this look is relatively easy. I started with a standard bun, adding bobby pins at every turn, and this Youtube tutorial proved very helpful for the rest. The loose, messy styling allows room for error. And, it wasn't nearly as difficult as photographing the back of my head in a mirror. I'm feeling pretty good about the look. It's like a cross between a ballerina and Princess Leia, which is what I aspire to in all areas of my life.
You did a great job! It looks fantastic. I need to watch that tutorial...I'm such a rookie when it comes to styling my hair.

ReplyDeletethis is so so pretty! i may have to try this for my brother's wedding in august :)...my hair skills are terribly limited, so anything that can be played off as intentionally messy is right up my alley - haha!

I'm very impressed! This looks amazing for you to have done on your own. My daughter got her hair done in a similar style for a ball and it cost a fortune! You may be interested that the hairdresser curled all her hair first into soft ringlets - don't know if that will help you?
