At the end of September I'll be leaving London for the first time to go to university. These are some reasons why I'll miss living here with all my heart. I love London...
1. For the beautiful mish-mash of old and modern architecture.
2. For Hummingbird Bakery cupcakes.
3. For the smelly, stuffy tubes.
4. For the stunning sprawling parks. Richmond Park, for being the countryside within London.
5. For feeling in the centre of everything. And being able to tell people abroad that you're from London and not needing to say the name of the country.
6. For the muddy River Thames.
7. For Columbia Road and Portobello Market and Spitalfields.
8. For Brick Lane Bagels.
9. For the variety of shops and exhibitions and clubs. Tate Modern and V&A I will miss you.
10. For being precisely 2 hours and 15 minutes away from Paris.

I would LOVE to visit London someday. I'm going to store Hummingbird bakery in the back of my head for that day. :]
ReplyDeleteEven though you'll be leaving such a great city I'm sure you have tons of fun adventures waiting ahead for you with great places to discover : ) I hope you have a great time!
ReplyDeletehaha you wouldn't have to say the name of the country if you were coming here because, unfortunately, most people think London IS a country. ; )
ReplyDeleteGood luck at university! London is an amazing city. Hummingbird bakery is pretty spectacular too. ;)
ReplyDeleteOh, I love London!! I have only been once (when I was in high school), but I would love to go back!
ReplyDeleteOh, what memories!!!...and the Crunchie bars!!! mmmmm My favorite. One bite of those and I am taken right back to that trip. :)
Oh London! I studied abroad in Europe a few years ago and London was one of my favorite stops...
ReplyDeleteI could spend days roaming the Tate Modern!
London is so Amazing :) Wish I could go more often!
ReplyDeleteI heart my London- Pattington Bear in rubber boots and coat. P. Bear survived 2 kids growing up and crossing the ocean many times. The toy I can not part with... (along with Red Fraggle of course)
ReplyDeleteGood luck on your new adventures. I went to London for the first time in August and LOVED it!! xxoo :)
ReplyDeleteGood Luck at University!!!
ReplyDeleteI love visiting London. I love having a take-away tea and sitting in Hyde Park. I love that they have pubs that have outdoor seating, so I can get a beer and the kids can nap in the stroller. I love how helpful everyone is when it's obvious you can't find some place. I love that I can go there for a week, drink all the beer I want and still come back home 5lbs lighter, for all the walking you get to do;)
Cheers!
J.
I've lived in London for 2 years and I'm leaving the UK to head back to the States soon. I'll miss so many things. Adding a few to your list...
ReplyDelete1. Waterloo Bridge and Millennium Bridge
2. The view from the top level of double decker buses
3. Greenwich Park and Greenwich market
4. Tea shops
5. Picnics on Primrose Hill in the summer
6. The Christmas lights on Oxford and Regent streets
7. Monmouth Street in Seven Dials
8. Being able to see Shakespeare plays all year 'round (and all the other amazing theatre productions too)
9. When reserving a table at a restaurant for dinner means you can spend the entire evening there and never feel rushed to leave.
10. Being able to give directions to lost tourists.
